I am developing the concept of Cultention, which explores how futures are progressively cultivated through the interaction between institutions, organisations, technologies and everyday practices. Rather than focusing only on the futures that societies explicitly declare, this research investigates the futures they actually cultivate through repeated choices, narratives and collective behaviours. This work aims to better understand the gap between declared futures and cultivated futures, and how this gap influences long-term societal transformations.
