Thomas Lombardo, Ph.D. is the Executive Director of the Center for Future Consciousness, the Director of The Wisdom Page, the Managing Editor of the online journal Wisdom and the Future, and Professor Emeritus and retired Faculty Chair of Psychology, Philosophy, and the Future at Rio Salado College in Tempe, Arizona.

 

 

He has published seven books and over fifty articles, and given roughly the same number of national and international presentations covering such diverse topics as the future of education; utopian and dystopian futurist visions; wisdom and character virtues; science fiction; the future evolution of the conscious mind; the “wise cyborg”; contemporary theories of the future; and how to heighten our future consciousness.

Dr. Lombardo is an award-winning educator with over forty years of professional experience. He has served as an academic dean; a department chairperson; a clinical therapist and chief mental health psychologist; and director of professional staff development. He was selected as futurist “Educator of the Quarter” by FUTUREtakes. His online journal Wisdom and the Future has been given “The All-Star Award.” He is an awarded Fellow of the World Futures Studies Federation. Dr. Lombardo’s books have consistently received laudatory reviews in many journals and professional magazines.

He is an editorial board member of the Journal of Futures Studies and served on the editorial board of the World Future Review. He is presently a member of the Association of Professional Futurists, World Futures Studies Federation, and numerous other futurist professional organizations. Dr. Lombardo is a graduate of the University of Connecticut and University of Minnesota and a graduate fellow of Cornell University.

His latest writing project is a multi-volume series Science Fiction: The Evolutionary Mythology of the Future, which delves into the ancient roots of science fiction and traces its historical evolution up to contemporary times.
